Notice how batman holds the joker, always in the crow when he captures him and beats him?
like he wants to look down at him and show him that he wins, and always will. Its like he does that everytime he either beats the crap out of him, or beats him. He wants direct eye contact, and wants to scare him, show him that he is unbeatable, but always fails… Because the joker just laughs and smiles, while he gets beat up. With the hope Batman would cross the line, and kill him.
